Suddenly, she was introduced to a lady. Her husband was pleasantly surprised to see this new lady at the party. She was surprised at his surprise. Her husband introduced the new lady as his friend from his college, and then mockingly admitted that he had a crush on her while they were in college. She smiled and both the ladies exchanged pleasantries. She was mature enough to handle this information, c'mon, after all every guy had crushes in college. She was also happy about the fact that she didn't let down her husband in his choice in front of his college crush. It is not every day that a spouse turns out to be as good looking as a crush. At least, she didn't have to worry on that account that her husband would go reminiscing in the past and wondering what if things would have turned out otherwise.
The party ended and they got in the car to go home. Her husband was in a cheerful mood and was sharing all his experiences with her. He was telling her how his heart rate would go up on sighting her in the college canteen, how he used to change his classes time to be able to attend the same class as her, how he used to borrow her notes, how he looked at every opportunity to talk to her. She was amused, listening to all the anecdotes, trying to picture her husband as the lovelorn young college boy. She smiled to herself, thinking he sure must have made a cute picture. She was in her own thoughts when her husband's words caught her attention 'What do you know about a crush? You will never know what it is since you have not experienced it. Oh, you know what, you don't know what you have missed in life'
And, then it all came back. The crush, the chase, the affair, the late night talks, the meetings, the heart break, the tears, the fights, the last meeting. She wanted to talk, to be able to share a part of her life with her husband, to be able to tell him all and much more than what he had shared, to be able to tell him that she had experienced everything. She looked at her husband, happily talking about his crush and decided to keep quiet. No matter how much her husband could share with her, he would never be able to accept the fact that his wife was also in love at some point in life. She smiled and replied ' Yeah, God has been kind enough to spare me the pain of a heart break'.
