The Eyes Have It: Getting the Best Mascara for Spring

Tamiya King
If you're into shopping for cosmetics that are affordable and long-lasting (and who isn't), you'll be happy to know that there are plenty of great mascara selections out there that you have to choose from. And, with spring just around the corner, you'll want to choose mascara that is hypoallergenic and waterproof, so that you can look your best in or outdoors.

Maybeline Great Lash mascara is one of the most popular waterproof brands, and doesn't clump when you're applying it. It's best to use an eyelash curler before applying this mascara if you want your lashes to have a more dramatic look, but the applicator does a pretty good job of conditioning and elongating the lashes. You can find Great Lash Mascara at your local drug store for under $5, so check out Walgreen's or CVS for this beauty accessory you won't have to feel builty about.

If you have particularly short eyelashes, and are looking for a mascara that will elongate your lashes and give you more of a dreamy look for spring, Revlon Luxurious Lenghts is another affordable option ($6.99). This mascara has a two-sided brush--one a curved side to separate the lashes so that they will appear longer, and a flat side to apply the mascara color. Check out Publix grocery stores, Ulta, CVS for this mascara miracle--the brush works so well, you may find that you can forego the eyelash curler, and you may simply wnat to use a bit of blush as an eye highligter, since you may not feel the need to apply multiple shades of eyeshadow.

For mascara that's a little more expensive, you may want to check out what Prescriptives has to offer. This company uses gentle ingredients that won't irritate the eyes or skin, and Lash Envy, the most popular mascara from the brand, gives you a natural look that will last all day due to its Volumatrix polymer. For a little under $30, you'll get a great mascara that you can keep for months without having to worry about clumping. Pro Longlash from MAC is another great buy if you're willing to spend a little more on mascara for a dramatic look that is appropriate for the workplace or a night out with friends. The mascara is waterproof and gives definite length to the lashes, is just a little over $10, so its very affordable.

Get the look you want for spring--check out these mascaras, along with eyeshadows from these brands to achieve spring time-ready eyes.
