Everything has truly evolved through the years and the online world is no exception. What used to be for the mere use of research and emails (as a great alternative to snail mailing), is now an avenue for press releases and quick responses. The members of the online world have created what is now called 'web blogging' or simply, 'blog'. All around the world, The United States included, perceives web blogging as 'revolutionary tool' in handing out (or spreading, if you like) words of any kind on any subject.
The United States' 2008 Presidential Election Campaign is a great example and the blogging community has taken this event even more seriously than any other current subject. Every day, there is something new to read about. What you see on the dailies is nothing compared to what you will find online. One of the leading Presidential Candidates, Hillary Clinton's party has recently launched "The Fact Hub" which aims to provide 'straight scoop' regarding the 2008 Presidential Election from the Democratic Party's frontrunner's side of the campaign.
The Fact Hub aims to correct and provide immediate responses to new reports, allegations, and charges that Senator Clinton and her campaign party deems inaccurate. While other people view it as another 'political microphone' or another 'campaign strategy', the supposed intention of the Fact Hub is solely to provide the 'facts' of the stories surrounding the campaign.
The Fact Hub basically kicked into action to rebut several 'misguided' reports including a report about Senator Hillary Clinton's supposed failure to leave a service tip after dining at Iowa Maid-Rite Restaurant. The site has in fact quoted the manager of Maid Rite, Brad Crawford statement, "Everybody was satisfied. No question about it." The truth is (according to the site), the Senator's party was billed $157.00 and tipped $100.00. However, the waitress, who served the Senator and her party, continues to claim that she didn't receive any tip nor has seen any tip.
To put in a more objective light, the Fact Hub is simply another tool to guard Senator Clinton from all the criticisms that surround her and her campaign. It can be very well regarded as the Senator's 'side of the story'. It is also an avenue to provide better publicity for a larger audience, a strategic way to create awareness among voters who are active members of the online blogging community. So far, the site's success rate is yet to be determined on how well the issues are addressed and how far its clout would reach.
As voters, to know for sure which side presents the 'straight facts' would be impossible. We can only speculate or form our own opinions. Hopefully, the Fact Hub is as real as its name denotes and is not just another campaign spin site
