Freedom: There is more freedom in this era because in the olden days women were seen and not heard. Men of "inferior" birth were not allowed to participate in certain sports or careers because the laws were suited only for the sons and daughters of noble birth.
In the olden days people were distinguished by the mode of their dressing, family affluence, and nobility (by birth or earned). The walls of inequality have long been broken, you can now be anything you want to be. Women can be doctors, lawyers, and actors (this was unheard of in Elizabethan times) in this era.
Cell Phones: What can we do without our cell phones? You miss a family member and you feel like hearing their voice? Just pick up your phone and talk to them, speaking to people is just a phone call away, whereas in the olden days speaking to people who live in a distant place was not as easy as it is today. You will have to write to them and send it through a messenger (because there weren't any postal services available at the time), which could take a very long time to deliver and sometimes the messenger could possibly be robbed by a group of outlaws.
Fashion: Women are liberated from having to wear frilly stuff and gowns that were designed to cut off their air supply. Women used to wear clothes that require a long time to put on, and as if that is not bad enough she will need the assistance of one or two people to help her get dressed. The clothes were so uncomfortable that ladies had to learn how to breathe while wearing one of these gowns. But now you can wear whatever you feel like wearing; some women have even taken to wearing skimpy clothing. If a lady wore a skimpy outfit in Elizabethan time, every other lady would scream, "off with her head!"
Love And Marriage: Marriages were fixed by parents and the man or woman involved would have no choice but to obey their parents and marry the person their parents had chosen for them. These days, men and women choose whomever they fancy and decide whether or not to marry them.
You can agree that this era has its many advantages, there are times when you feel like going back in time; but think about it, many of us cannot accept the way people lived back then. We want to be able to put our clothes in the washer, go to the mall to buy the latest fashion items, we want a cold bottle of soda or beer to drink after a long day. Now tell me, does this era rock or not?
