The Fall

Seasons: Part I

Debby Alten
When autumn breezes drifted by
And coppery leaves
Fell from the sky
I talked to God
A tormented cry
He lavished me with whispers

I rested on beds of delicate feathers
Of golden leaves
As worry weathers
I talked to God
As torment weaves
He lavished me with whispers

He spoke upon the gentle breeze
On withered branch
Of lofty trees
I talked to God
Of hope and stanch
He lavished me with whispers

When clouds were wisped by autumn flurry
And seeds of pain

Were there to bury
I talked to God
Of cost and gain
He lavished me with whispers

So then I walked through garden's fall
And in His care
My plight and all
I talked to God
Of answered prayer
He lavished me with whispers

When autumn breezes softly kissed
Beneath the light
Of morning mist
I talked to God
Of birds and flight
And wished for once that I could fly

He lavished me with whispers.
