The Fall Season: the Fall of Life

Andrea Rowe

A chill in the air

Leaves fall on the ground

Color change everywhere

Light lost and dark found

The death of summer

The birth of winter

My soul feels glummer

Emotions splinter

The season of Fall

Juxtaposed with Spring

It started it all

Memories it brings

It was October

Many years ago

My soul fell sober

Cancer I now know

Six years would follow

Now it November

Life's purpose hollow

Mind now embittered

A cancer relapse

A loss of focus

School attendance gaps

Teenager hocus

Eighteen years later

Mom lost to cancer

Fall season traitor

It as life's lancer

Twenty five years on

I do not feel strong

Mom gone for a year

Fall season is here

A good poem. Your life sounds a bit like mine with many hills and valleys to climb. I read your first featured article but it would not let me comment. Keep up the good work and let your writing be one of your many milestones. It is good.
