The False Claimant to the Throne of Mann

Or, How to Sell a Title and Get Rich

Recently on Facebook I came across the claim of an American claiming a Fairy Tale come True. He had been approached by a group from Britain who informed him he was the legitimate claimant to the Throne of Mann, No, not a religious Throne but that of an Island in The North Sea off the Coast of England. I read about how stunned he was by the news and about how he was sent items of Coronation Regalia by the Queen for a ceremony in America which was to be performed by an Archbishop. He would not name either his benefactors from the UK nor the Archbishop who performed his coronation, but did show a picture sans robes with a crown set at a jaunty angle on his head.

David Howe claims to be a cousin to the Queen and has declared himself King of Mann.
At this point I was prepared to have a laugh as I'm sure were many others, until I read that he was selling Titles on the Island, and that some of the price tags were in the £100,000.00 range. The laughter dried up at this point. This was an insult to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II who is the Monarch ( sole) of Mann and is the only person with Fons Honorum to grant titles from the Island. He produced a family tree which he claims shows his line of descent and his entitlement to claim. One look at this shows it to be full of holes as he is not descended from the heirs to the house, and this happens in succeeding generations which makes his claim more distant still. It also makes his claim to be the Queen's cousin about as accurate as it is for most of us, as if any of us go back far enough I'm told we will all have Royal ancestors.This man was getting my back up.

Some friends started a facebook page to openly discredit the claim and also to ask Mr.Howe to provide some answers to questions regarding his notification, coronation and his title sales. He denied the latter.
One of his followers who was a Baron ( of Mann of course) informed me that unscrupulous people had got hold of Mr.Howe and made him sell Titles but he had now ceased. I wrote an open letter and invited him to back down given that he had been wrongly advised and that his claim was in fact an insult to his supposed cousin. He did not reply.

Soon we began to hear from others of his followers as to how Great he was, how Noble and one sent biblical verses to suggest we were evil for doubting him. This was a double whammy to me, firstly because a search on his name had produced details of previous activities on the net, where he had been claiming false qualifications to get people to enroll on his martial arts courses. The other was because the person who wrote the verses was none other than Karen Cantrell who readers may recognize as the paean of virtue described in poems by one Gianni Truvianni, who is renowned for his flowery tributes to her.This amazing lady who once claimed to be a Princess of Aquitaine, was now claiming to be Countess of Mann and Chamberlain to the Royal House.She who openly rubbished the Queen on one site and claimed she was not the ruler of Mann was now administering a new Private Order and was selling Knighthoods to it.This is a lady who has sold Titles to Aquitaine through her husband Thomas Cantrell masquerading as Thomas II of Aquitaine and through another husband Peter Ludwig Eckert, titles in Pomerania and Livonia.

Her actions are becoming repetitive now,'Lets make ourselves rich by selling titles that aren't ours'.
She is the CEO of a Company that sells Golf Clothing but obviously this is not enough. In her greed she has to also make a fat profit by deluding people, many of them her own countrymen.

Another follower is called Council Nedd III and calls himself Bishop of the Chesapeake after completing a distance learning correspondence school D.Phil in 2008. He seems to be involved in the same private Orders as the other followers. One exception to that is a man who surprised me. A well known environmentalist is the 1990's who sold his tree company out and left to live in Venezuela. He returns to the scene as Globcal who appoints pointless ambassadors to Facebook for the purposes on Truth, Respect and Justice etc.He appointed Karen Cantrell as an Ambassador -Politician despite being told of her misdemeanors saying he was keeping an open mind, also saying he would enjoy watching a coup on the Isle of Mann. Strange words from an Ambassador I think.What can he possibly gain from giving such a Title to a woman already heavily burdened with many others and who uses it to Glorify herself to her Facebook fans. And yes folks, I mean Fans as you can be invited to become such as I found out this week. I have to be honest and say I declined. You might understand why.

And so, we now have the daily grind of trying to discredit this group until they see there is to be no more profit to be made and end the hoax. But, as long as there are people who will believe that a Title can be theirs that can automatically provide them with Respect, The best Tables in Restaurants and an upgrade on seats in Airports, they will stay and prey. There is always extra money to be made in selling medals and granting awards that need robes or medals and moving up the ladder from Knight to Earl that can cost you. I have to wonder do you really need respect that much?
