The Familiar Voices Behind Your Kid's Favorite TV Shows

Have you ever watched a children's TV show and recognized the voice of one of the animated characters- but you just couldn't place it? Many child stars and adult actors venture into the world of voice work, so it's not your imagination. Here are some of the familiar voices behind your children's favorite TV shows.

Fred Savage. You know him as Kevin Arnold from the hit TV series The Wonder Years, but actor Fred Savage is also an accomplished voice actor. Savage's voice can be heard on kid's shows like Kim Possible and Justice League Unlimited, but he's best known as the voice for a blue octopus named Oswald. Savage voiced Oswald on the popular children series of the same name from 2001 to 2004. Oswald still airs on Nick Jr.

Kristen Davis. She starred in the HBO series Sex and the City, playing good girl Charlotte York, but Kristen Davis is known in other circles as the voice of a kind-hearted spider. Davis is the voice of Miss Spider on the children's series Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Friends. The popular Nickelodeon series has also spawned off a Nintendo DS video game.

Mindy Cohn. For years she played the wisecracking Natalie Green on the long running series The Facts of Life, but actress MIndy Cohn has also enjoyed a long career as a voice actress as well, most notably in the Scooby Doo series. Cohn has provided the voice of Velma on a long list of Scooby Doo movies and TV shows, including the What's New, Scooby Doo series (2002-2006), A Scooby Doo Christmas (2004), Aloha, Scooby Doo (2005) and Scooby Doo and the Samurai Sword (2009).

Lara Jill Miller. She played youngest daughter Sam Kanisky on the 1980's series Gimme a Break and you may not have seen her since, but you've probably heard her. Actress Lara Jill Miller's voice is all over the place on children's TV. One of her biggest roles is the character of Widget on the series Wow Wow Wubbzy . Miller also provided the voice of Juniper on the Cartoon Network series The Life and Times of Juniper Lee (pop culture trivia buffs: this show was created by Real World San Francisco alum, Judd Winick). She also voiced the character of Tini on the series Higglytown Heroes and Kari on Digimon: Digital Monsters.

Melissa Gilbert. She played Laura Ingalls on the series Little House on the Prairie, then grew up and became the president of the Screen Actor's Guild. But from 1992 to 1994, actress Melissa Gilbert took on the voice of Batgirl in the FOX series Batman the Animated Series.

Neil Patrick Harris. As a kid he played Doogie Howser MD and he currently stars on the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother, but actor Neil Patrick Harris has also lent his voice to a variety of children's shows, including Spider-Man ( he voiced Peter Parker), and Justice League.
