The Family Christmas Tree

Ariana R. Cherry-Shearer
For hundreds of years, families across the world gather together to dress up their Christmas tree
to celebrate the season.

The Christmas tree is a symbol of family unity, as it brings us all together for another year.
Its also a representation of our past, present and the future...

When we string the twinkling bright lights all around the tree,
it reminds us of the stars that shone high in the sky when baby Jesus was born.
The stars provided those who traveled with guidance and brought hope to many.

As we begin to place the shiny colored bulbs on each branch of the Christmas tree,
a mirror of the present reflects back at us.
It's a fine reminder of the people we are today, and how God created all of us, both special and unique.

Once we begin to adorn our family Christmas tree with our individual ornaments,
we look back at all of the past memories that each one brings us.
Some may have been inherited from family members-who have left to meet their maker, years ago.
Others were created with love and care from past school projects,
While other ornaments may have been purchased from past frenzied Christmas shopping sprees.

Each individual ornament is a story from our family, and the memories that we have built our life upon.

After all of the decorations and ornaments have been carefully placed on the Christmas tree,
Our family stands back to take an admiring look, pleased with their work...
Another family moment to look back on as the years go by...

Another chance to build a precious moment, to remember our love for one another.
And the love that Christ has given us, to live life by.

It's another year, that we gather together, around the Christmas tree with family, friends
and those whom we love the most...
One more peaceful moment to spend as one,
before a pending busy year that may separate us all again..

Until we gather together again, at the family Christmas tree.
