The Callaway Golf Club is the most renowned and reputable type of golf club in the golfing market today. It is much beloved by novices and professionals alike for many reasons: its light weight, durability and streamlined body is just one of the few answers to why they love it so much. There are so many people who are amazed by golfing today, particularly businessmen and retirees. As they have the time and money to spend on golfing, it is no wonder that the Callaway Golf clubs have increased sales so much in the past few years.

The Callaway Golf is led by Ely Callaway, who was the former president of Burlington Textile industries. He was very successful and also loved golf very much. At that time, he favored clubs by Hickory Sticks. Later, he bought half of the company in 1982, and the rest for $400,000 a year later. The company later changed its name to Callaway Golf in 1988. He hired the best designers and engineers to support his dream of making it big in the golf world.

His first designer was former big-time billiard cue designer Richard C. Helmstetter. He indeed made a wise choice in hiring Richard, for in a short span of time, a renowned golf club, the Big Bertha, was born. The designs of Callaway golf clubs are truly one-of-a-kind which combined style with quality-the kind that businessmen and the sophisticated like. Ely Callaway also later moved his company from California to a small town just above San Diego called Carlsbad.

One of the best designs this firm has ever dreamt up of was a beautiful, rust-resistant metal driver that had a bigger-volume head than any design available then. This was later named the Big Bertha, and till today, is a bestseller. It was named Big Bertha after the German war cannons in World War One, which was feared because of its long distance firing power. This was a good inspiration indeed as Big Bertha sold more than a million sales at its first launch. It also propelled Callaway Golf to one of the biggest golf companies in the world, and also hastened the spread of golf as a popular sport.

Now, there are six categories of the Callaway Golf Club. The first is the Big Bertha FT4 and Titanium 454. It also includes the Big Bertha 460, added years later. Next, they named following batches of designs the Fairway woods, including the newest model X Hot Fairway Woods. The rest of the categories are the Wedge, Hybrid, Balls and Iron, each with its own unique collection of golf clubs designed for different purposes, such as long distance swings, power and more.

As more people began to take up golf as a hobby, the Callaway golf also catered to younger generations like children so that they may also have fun together with their parents. They then cultivate a life-long hobby that will ensure long term business for Callaway Golf. Not only do children have their own line of golfing clubs, Callaway Golf also designed a special collection of lighter, slimmer golf clubs for women who love golfing. Besides simply manufacturing golf clubs, Callaway Golf also diversified into accessories like golfing gloves and attire.

If you are a novice, they do have staff to teach you all the basics of golf. The lessons are not too pricey and rather affordable. One should give it a shot-you might very well be the next Tiger Woods!
