The Farmhouse Family Restaurant is located on a side street off of Highway 411 in Etowah, Tennessee. The restaurant is decorated with county items, as you probably assumed by the name. The atmosphere is inviting and the mismatched tables and chairs add to that. There is a roll of paper towels on each table so you never have to ask for a napkin!
When we entered The Farmhouse Family Restaurant there were only a few tables occupied. A female voice told us to sit anywhere, so we took a booth by the wall. That same female voice approached us and greeted us. She asked if what we would like to drink. I picked up the large bottle of lemon juice and said, "Does this mean you don't have real lemons?" She said yes and I then ordered a Diet Coke. Bottled lemon juice doesn't do it for me in my sweet tea! She asked if this was our first visit to the restaurant and I said yes it was. Kathy introduced herself and welcomed us again.
There was only one steak choice, a 12 oz. Rib Eye for $12.50. I asked about the Shrimp Skewers, and Kathy said they were very good. Unfortunately I went with the steak. The steak came with a Baked Potato and Salad. My husband ordered the Beef and Cheese Philly Steak Sandwich and Fries. His meal was only $6.00.
While we waited Kathy brought out my salad and crackers. I had requested lettuce only and that was what I got. Before we knew it our meals were brought out. Service time was good.
My husband's sandwich was large and he said it tasted very good. The fries were extremely hot and they were crispy. My steak was very large, but large doesn't necessarily equate to good taste. I took a few bites and did not care for the seasoning that was used. I had my husband taste it and he didn't like it either. Kathy came by and asked how things were. I told her that I did not like the flavor of the steak.
She apologized and asked if I would like something else. I said no thanks, but she almost insisted and urged me to take the Shrimp Skewers. I finally gave in and took the shrimp. I tried one and knew that is what I should have ordered from the beginning. They were absolutely delicious. There were two skewers, each contained 10 shrimp. They weren't large, but they weren't bait size either. I gave me husband a few and he thought they were delicious.
I had my mind set to order dessert, Kathy listed the options and I ordered Lemon Meringue Pie, it was homemade. The pie was very good and I would highly recommend it.
They do not have a website, and since their menu is extensive, I'll give you some highlights. They have a few appetizers, several salad choices, a list of sandwiches that include anything from a hot dog to club sandwiches, Platters such as the shrimp and several other fish entrées, side dishes, wraps and daily specials.
The prices are very reasonable; the platters are in the $9-$11 range, sandwiches $2.50 to $6.00. You won't break the bank at this restaurant and you will still get enough to eat.
I got the distinct feeling that the goal at The Farmhouse Family Restaurant is to make sure their customers are happy. Now that I know how good the shrimp are, you can be sure we will be going back again!

Great review.
Sounds like the service is great.
Awesome, thanks Abby
Nice review, Abby! I wondered if the lemon pie would be fresh lemons after you mentioned lemon juice on the table!
Lemon juice is NOT the same as real lemons! That's for sure. :-)
Sounds like a good one.
Sounds great!
Sounds like a great place to eat.
They really tried hard to please you! The only thing that's missing now are fresh lemons.
