The Fashion Disaster Date

Those words are always scary and usually the date is as well. Nervously, you pace the floors waiting for the arrival of the unknown. Finally, there is a knock and that brief moment of hesitation as you open the door. Suddenly, standing in front of you is your worst fashion disaster date.

What makes a fashion disaster date? Simply, it is when your date's fashion is so incredibly nauseating that you have to force yourself to be seen in public with them.

It was about a year ago when I had been blindsided by the words, "You have got to meet my brother". After several months' of avoidance, the inevitable happened. Like any other woman, I made sure that my outfit was fashionable, my hair was perfect, and my make-up was flawless. My date on the other hand, was a completely different story.

There were no other words to describe the sight before my eyes except for disaster. From head to toe he was an utter mess. The man's hair was unruly and unwashed. The odor was so intense that it lingered from across the dinner table making my steak taste like dirty bath water. His shirt was plaid and resembled the Christmas sheets on my grandmother's bed. The piece of cloth on top of his shirt was a moth's dream. I had never seen a sweatshirt have so many holes in my entire life. His old brown corduroy pants were dingy and dilapidated. Finally, when I was able to stomach the sight of his appalling footwear, it was then I knew that the date was going to be a disaster.

Much to my surprise the man had an amazing personality, but was it enough to overcome his lack of fashion sense? No! I never returned his phone calls and he slowly faded away much like the thin spots on his pants.

All single people heed this warning; beware of the fashion disaster date. Avoiding those dreadful words, "You have to meet my..."
