The Features of IOS4 in IPhone 3Gs

Introduced in July of 2009, the iPhone 3GS is the third generation of Apple iPhones. It's a big improvement over the iPhone 3G in that it comes with increased processor speed, higher resolution camera and video camera capabilities. The iPhone 3GS also comes with voice control and a higher screen resolution. The "S" in the 3GS stands for speed as the biggest improvement in 3GS over 3G is the processing speed.

What Is iOS?

When Apple released the iPhone, they created a custom operating system to go with it. The number following the "iOS" indicates what version the operating system is running in. This operating system was a huge upgrade from the iOS3 with the integration of folders, multitasking, wallpapers, iBooks and the Game Center.

History of iOS4

Apple released iOS4 when it released the iPhone 4 in June of 2010. The iOS4 system brings new features such as folders, wallpapers, multitasking and iBooks. Since this time, Apple has periodically released firmware updates to build upon the existing operating system by fixing glitches, bugs and adding features such as AirPlay and AirPrint. These firmware updates are available by plugging your iPhone 3GS into your computer and opening iTunes. The "Update" button is available on the "Summary" screen.

The iOS4 Features

The stock iOS4 comes with a large amount of new features. The biggest of these features is the ability to multitask. This is the ability to keep more than one iPhone application up and running at one time. IOS4 also comes with the folders option. This feature allows you to store multiple application icons into folders. This significantly increases the amount of applications that your iPhone can hold.

IOS4 came Bluetooth keyboard support and 5x digital zoom for your camera. The Game Center application allows for playing games against other people. You also have the new iBooks application on your iPhone. This application allows you to download and purchase ebooks from the iTunes store. You can also open and view PDFs in iBooks.

IOS4 brings with it threaded emails and the ability to create & edit playlists directly on your iPhone. If you need to find an SMS or MMS message, you can now search for messages.

Missing Features

With all the fabulous features of iOS4, you may discover that not all of them work with your iPhone 3Gs. You may notice the absence of multitasking, wallpaper and the Bluetooth keyboard support.This is because the iPhone 3GS doesn't have the same technology and the iPhone 4. It is unable perform these tasks with the technology it was designed with.
