Aside from being physically smaller and inside a sleek sexy black casing, there are several major improvements and new features that make the new Xbox 360 blow away its predecessors. According to Microsoft, the new Xbox360 is "here today" and "ready for tomorrow." What exactly does that mean? Let's dive into some specs.
The new Xbox 360 is smaller, sleeker, and "whisper quiet." It features more than double the disk space of the current 120 gigabyte hard drive with a total of 250 gigabytes. Many Xbox 360 owners have older arcade versions that may have as few as 20 gigabyte hard drives. This became a huge drawback as their game libraries expanded, with many players quickly running out of room to store new content. The only viable option at the time was to purchase an expensive 60 or 120 GB hard drive. Why spend $100 on a hard drive when one could buy several games with their hard earned money instead?
With 250 gigabytes of space in the new Xbox 360, there is plenty of room on the new Xbox for all the Games On Demand, Xbox LIVE Arcade games, movies, and music that even the most hardcore gamer could need. The hard drive itself on the new Xbox 360 is removable, so it isn't out of line to expect even larger storage capacities in the future.
Rather than having to run wires to connect your Xbox 360 to Xbox LIVE with the typical Ethernet Port that is found on existing Xbox 360's, the new Xbox 360 features a built-in Wi-Fi 802.11. That means you won't have to shell out an extra $99.99 to purchase the separate wireless adapter to connect your Xbox 360 to your home's wireless internet. Not only is this a convenience and wallet saver on consumers, it makes the new Xbox 360 "the fastest wireless network available for any console."
What is the best part about the New Xbox 360, and "how much will this cost?" The answer is astonishing. "You are getting all of this in your new Xbox 360 for the same price. $299."
