"The Federation is set in the year 2451. The once United Federation of Planets is no more. In its place stands The Federation, a slowly rebuilding power dedicated to taking back what was taken from them during the Federation Reptilian Alliance War, and to restoring peace and prosperity throughout the quadrant."
" Admiral Nathan Steele,
Chairperson, Federation ECB "
The Federation has some nice qualities about it that I think set it apart from other simulations. Among one of the best qualities I like to note is, The Federation isn't too big. Each ship runs with ten positions.
The Academy is where all new recruits are trained in The Federations posting format. The posting format used by the federation includes a star date, location indicator, time indicator, tags which are indicated by right and left arrows and signature of the poster. At certain times the Academy also offers advanced courses which are usually designed and written collaboratively by other member of The Federation.
The Federation News service offers a way for members of a crew to express what is happening in The Federation for members of other crews. The News Service is active based on interest of members.
The R&D facility allows members of The Federation to design and introduce new technology. New technology usually requires a vote by a member board before the technology will be produced. This is yet another outlet for players interested in a well rounded gaming experience.
One of the best aspects of the Federation is it's member collaborative database. While most of the database was compiled by one member of The Federation it is now available for other members to submit information. The Federation database also contains some information which documents story lines or developments produced by members of The Federation.
The Federation offers a forum for it's members which gives the feeling of a community beyond the game. Members often get to know each other well over the years.
The Federation is a nice member run group with an opportunity to develop and create ideas which offer a more fulfilling gaming experience.
