The Fine Art of Finding the Most Hilariously Bad Movie to Rent

Have a Full-Fledged Night of Laughter, Despite the Director's Intentions

Marli
On a boring night, one of the best activities to take part in can also be one of the least expensive. A quick trip to the nearest Blockbuster or Hollywood Video could have just what you need- a good/bad movie! If you're with a close group of friends, this can end up being the ultimate bonding experience. The closest analogy I could make to the good/bad movie night is a first-hand mystery science theatre experience, except you don't have to make up all of the punch lines because they are already perfectly packaged in the movie.

Picking The Movie
When scanning the racks of the local video store it can be hard to spot the perfect good/bad movie. For beginners it's easiest to start in the horror section (you are guaranteed to find some gems here!). Generally, you can ignore the saying, "never judge a book by its cover". The ultimate good/bad movie can be spotted from a mile away. If you're feeling adventurous, you can always try the children's section. I know it sounds risky, but I've had many near heart attacks from laughing about a children's movie gone wrong. Steven Seagal also makes some pretty hilarious movies that you just can't pass up! Look for movies with unpopular actors. I mean, come on, Ben Stiller sticks with creating simply good, funny movies...most of the time.

Personal Favorite
I was lucky enough to hit the jackpot on my first try of finding a good/bad movie. I actually spotted it once, laughed about how funny it would probably be, and then came back a week later to rent it. The name of this incredible film is, The Gingerdead Man, featuring none other than the infamous Gary Busey. The cover of this film depicts an evil gingerbread man with a bloody dagger and the tagline, "Evil Never Tasted So Good!". The movie is about a convicted killer who is put to death, and comes back to life as a gingerbread man to kill the woman who testified against him. The movie features such distinctive quotes as, "Shut your pie hole" (It's set in a bakery) and, "We got homicidal baked goods after us".

Good bad movies can be the absolute best event to bond with your friends or family on an uneventful night, you just have know what to expect. Having a great time doesn't necessarily mean a night on the town, spending hundred of dollars, it can be an evening indoors. So pop some popcorn, turn off the lights, and laugh until you cry!

Haha I totally agree! Children of the Corn was pretty funny, I also liked Jawbreaker (it's kinda like a dark Mean Girls)but almost everytime that I'm bored and there aren't any new movies that interest me I hit up all the weird ones.

I enjoy watching cheesy movies with real bad dialog from time to time. Nice article.
