The Firehouse: Best BBQ in East Tennessee

The Firehouse Restaurant in East Tennessee, has the best BBQ that I have ever had. It also has a very unique ambiance. As you might have guessed by it's name this restaurant is loaded with fire fighting memorabilia but more than that it is actually in an old fire house. It has a great ambiance and is very family friendly. It has reasonable prices. This restaurant also does catering which I have also had the pleasure of having.

Firehouse is a local restaurant in Johnson City, TN near the East Tennessee University campus. It is a very popular restaurant in this area and is well known by many in the surrounding areas. I was first pointed toward this wonderful restaurant when my husband and I moved to Tennessee. My employer that I was leaving in WV had previously lived in that area of TN and asked if I ever came back to bring him some BBQ sandwiches.

Well on our way out of town one day we had stopped in for dinner before we left. I was so surprised at the restaurant it was like a museum for fire fighting. It doesn't hurt that my husband is a fire fighter. We were taken away at the decorations. My husbands favorite and I am sure many fireman will agree was the wall of badges. See fireman for whatever reason like to swap badges and the Firehouse has an amazing collection. They also have a small replica fire engine for you to take a picture with. This is all before you get to the dinning hall.

The food is amazing. I am not sure what their best dish is because we love them all. My husband is particularly fond of the 'slice' BBQ sandwich of course with coleslaw on top. He loves the different style BBQ sauces that they have on the table for you to choose from. I am loving their soup and salad, they have the best corn chowder. Not that I don't like BBQ or the ribs that are also great. I just have to be able to leave room for their awesome desserts. Desserts are to die for here. They bring you around this tray of desserts mostly chocolate, that are just irresistible. It is simple not far, you can't resist.

The wait staff is incomparable. People in Tennessee are just wonderful in general but the wait staff is always on top of their game. They also have a catering division that is also really great. The fire dept down there uses them for any event that they have and the food was always wonderful. They were always absolutely prepared every time.

If you are in the Johnson City, TN area please do your self the pleasure of stopping in for lunch or dinner at the Firehouse Restaurant. You wont' regret it.
