The First Kiss

Laura Minning
The darkened sky
blankets the Earth
in silence.

Whilst the moon
lights our way
and guides us
toward our destination.

No words are spoken,
and time stands still.

The scent of your intentions
embraces and surrounds me,
whilst caressing my inhibitions
and numbing my hesitations.

You reach for my hand,
and I eagerly oblige.

You pull me close,
and hold me tightly.

I lean against your chest
and feel your breath
quivering about me.

You gingerly graze your lips
across my cheek,
and press them to mine.

I close my eyes,
whilst our intentions intertwine.

My limbs grow weary,
and my heart increases
its rhythmic stride

But time grows impatient,
and quickens her pace,
until the moment descends
into a bitter-sweet
"good night".
