The First Step in Starting an Online, Internet Business

In Fact, This is the First Step to Do for Any Business

Dave Ickes
OK, you've made the decision and you want to make money on the Internet. The problem is, you've never done this kind of thing before, know nothing about the various ways that you CAN earn a living, and you're quite honestly, LOST. All starting business owners have been there so welcome to the club.

For the most part, you are on your own. Oh yes, there are those who can give you some direction but ultimately, you are the boss and you have to do the work. Eventually, as you build a name for yourself you may get somebody to go into a Joint Venture with you, but that's later down the road. The point is, at the beginning, you truly are ON YOUR OWN.

So there you sit, with your computer screen in front of you, staring at whatever and the first thing that comes into your mind is one question...

Where Do I Start????

If you think this isn't a scary thought, it is. "Man, do I wish I had some direction," you say to yourself.

Well, I'm here to give you the first step you must do to start your online business.

The first skill you need to learn is how to write really well. You must communicate with people to sell them any service or any product. Writing is going to be one of the keys to making an income on the Internet, at least a good one. I can hear you now, "But I hate to write!" Well, then obviously you're going to have a more difficult time. Luckily, there are options. Believe it or not, there is more than one way to make money on the Internet. Some will be more profitable than others at the start, but there are many ways. Regardless of your fondness or lack thereof of writing, you will need to write to succeed. The good news is we are not talking about being a best selling author. You just need to be clear and be able to write in easily understood sentences.

My point is, there is more than one way to skin a cat in this business, but writing and communicating with people is paramount to your success.

I will give you your "generic" starting point. So this is what you need to do after reading this article, because this will be your "Where To Start."

Sit down with a pen and paper (yes, get away from the darn computer) and write down ALL your interests. That's right, ALL of them. I don't care how silly they are or how unlikely they are to make money. Just write them down.

Here's my interest list.

1. Computers
2. Music
3. Writing
4, Games
5. Health
6. Business
7. Investments
8. Singing
9. Watching movies
10. Walking
11. Doing research
12. Making money...Well, that's probably on everyone's list

The list you create HAS to be the first thing you do when you go into any business. You will only do what you enjoy and that includes making money. So you have completed the first step in starting you online business once you have you "Interest List". You now have a starting point from which you can research the many ways of making money online. Study only those ways that are in your interest areas and ignore the others.

Don't overlook this first, important step. Take the time to do it now.
