The First Years: Sit and Store Tub Side Seat

Out of everything I purchased or was purchased for the birth of my son two and a half years ago, The First Years: Sit and Store Tub Side Seat is still being used almost every day. This is one of my favorite products to this day. It has more than one use, which I love. I purchased sit and store tub side seat from Babies R Us three years ago. I don't remember what I paid for it but I did check online at the Babies R Us website and they are still selling it. The price is now $16.99. I would definitely buy it again if I needed to.

The main purpose of this tub seat is for the parents. I sit on it every time I give my son a bath. This seat has saved my back in so many ways. It is so hard to kneel down while giving your toddler a bath. First of all, after two minutes my knees start shaking on the hard tile floor. Then my back goes out. Finally, I can't stand up after kneeling for so long. By using this tub seat, I am able to sit and wash my son without breaking my back. After I am done washing him, I can sit back and relax while he plays with his bath toys. I no longer feel rushed when he is taking a bath. I used to quickly remove him from the bath as soon as I was finished washing him because it was too painful to stay there while he played. This seat also has an adjustable height depending on how short or tall your bathtub is. I have kept it on one level ever since I bought it and luckily, I haven't had to adjust it. However, just knowing there is an option if I needed to adjust it is great.

Another great use for this tub seat is that it has storage. Any parent knows the importance of storage. When my son is finished playing with a certain bath toy, I am able to neatly open the top of this bath seat and place his toy inside. He has so many bath toys that he doesn't play with them all at once. We pick out one or two bath toys for bath time and the rest stay in the seat for storage. It is so convenient. You don't have to take up any space in your cabinet under the sink. I can't tell you how much stuff is under the sink, I can't fit any bath toys. I keep my cat's new litter under there and I don't want my son's wet bath toys going near anything cat liter related. This storage seat keeps all of his bath toys neat and clean.

The third use of this seat is a step stool. This will be great for when my son need to step up and use the potty. We are first learning this so we haven't used this option yet but it will be perfect for the potty when we need it. I have used the step stool option to reach the shampoo at the top of the shower. I keep the shampoo out of his reach when he is in the bath and unfortunately, it is out of my reach too. By stepping on the seat, I am able to reach it without having to being a step stool into the bathroom every time my son needs a bath. I have also used this step stool feature to clean the mirrors in the bathroom after they were steamed from the bath.

Appearance

The seat is white with a blue top. It matches out bathroom perfectly. We just happen to have a white and blue bathroom, perfect for a little boy. We didn't plan it that way, but it's great that the seat matches so well. It is also small, which is another feature about this seat that I love. It fits perfectly between the bathtub and the baseboard heater. An adult can still use the toilet without the seat getting in the way. I don't have to put the seat away every time my son is finished with the bath. It is small enough that I can keep it in the bathroom all of the time.

Age

The age recommendation for this product is 6 months to 24 months. My son is 30 months and as I stated earlier, we use it everyday. I don't see myself not using it until my son is old enough to take a shower. Until then, I will sit on this seat every day while my son takes a bath.

One flaw

Since it doesn't have a back on it, I lean up against the wall to support my back.
