I try but I fail,
The mermaids wail,
This ship is tattered and torn.
But still I sail,
In rain and hail,
Battling with the storm.
My Soul is hard,
My heart is barred,
Thinking of love that awaits.
Navigating by stars,
Destination seems far,
I must keep this evil at bay.
No land in sight,
A dreary night,
Reality of what this has cost.
There stirs a fright,
I accept my plight,
My will to survive is lost.
The air is cold,
The tides unfold,
And I white knuckle the tiller.
The path is old,
My story is told,
The sea becomes my killer.
