The Five Iphone Apps I Can't Live Without

Five Apps that Make My Life Easier

Bel Marshall
I resisted for quite some time on the purchase of an Iphone but I finally gave in and bought a refurbished Iphone 3gs and I have to admit that I have no idea how I lived without it.

My previous phone was a Blackberry Pearl and while I loved the phone, I hated the issues with the trackball and so when it came time to purchase a new phone, I gave in and got the Iphone as I was already eyeing the IPod touch.

The apps are what make the Iphone an invaluable tool to me and the ones I use the most are free. Granted, I have fun playing with a few of the lower cost apps but the apps that I use most often are the ones that make my day to day life easier.

My favorite free Iphone apps

Photobucket

I have used photobucket for years and until my Iphone, I had to download my photos from my phone to my computer and then upload them to photobucket. This is a pain for anyone who takes a lot of photos with their phone. Now I can access my account and download photos to my phone or upload photos as I take them in a matter of seconds to my photobucket. Never again will I accidentally delete a photo before it's been saved to photobucket.

Another fun way to use photobucket on your Iphone is via text messaging. Want to send a special photo text to someone with a special message? Use the search mode, type in words such as "Thinking of you" and discover many graphics to express your thoughts, download to your camera roll and then send it via MMS. In seconds you have an extra special text message to someone you love.

Chase Bank

The Iphone has various apps for banks but Chase is the one I use. I can check my balance, transfer funds from accounts and make a deposit from anywhere simply by taking a picture of the check. I can get account alerts or simply find a location or ATM near you.

PayPal

Since I run a business from home, PayPal is a crucial part of my business and I have payments that come in at various times of the day and night. I don't have to wait to get home and check my account to see if there is a deposit made before determining if I have the funds to make a purchase in my account. I type in a pin number to my PayPal account, check my balance and all worries are gone. I can also send money through PayPal via my Iphone, add funds to my account from a bank account or credit card, withdraw my balance to my bank account and check my spending history from my Iphone.

Skype

The Skype Iphone app makes my working life easier. No more international charges, no more connecting via the computer, Skype just got easier. The Skype app has all of my contacts right there, I can chat or call with anyone who is online via computer, Skype capable phone or whatever they might be using. The best part of all is that Skype to Skype calls do not use your minutes as it connects through a Wi-Fi network.

Kindle

I am quickly becoming addicted to the Amazon Kindle, while its cost upward of $200.00 for the actual Kindle, the app is completely free. This is great for short trips or just needing to reference something quickly. Within seconds my purchases are sent to my Iphone Kindle and I have what I need right away. The only drawback on this particular app is the size of the screen. I don't recommend trying to read a long novel this was as you get about two paragraphs per page, but for reference material it's fantastic and yes, it now has me coveting a full size Kindle or maybe just an Ipad....

There are many free apps for all makes of the Iphone but for me these five are the ones I can't live without, they make my day to day life easier and I find that they assist in making my work life easier as well.
