The Five Most Basic Components of Flirting for Men

Goth Diva
Confused by the intricacies of flirting? While good flirting is complex, these five basic components of flirting don't change.

5. Present yourself well.

Stand up straight, fix your hair, don't stand with hunched shoulders and crossed arms and expect a woman to flirt with you.

4. Speak well.

If you're not a good conversationalist, practice. Everyone gets nervous and stumbles over the words at times but practice small talk until it becomes easy. If you're at a bar and you want to talk to the pretty woman at the bar next to you, ask her what she's drinking as a way to strike up a conversation. If she likes you, she might offer you a sip of her drink. If you want to keep talking to her order what she's drinking, sip it, say "wow that's really good, thanks for suggesting it" or something like that.

3. Be confident!

Women are attracted to confident men. If you don't feel confident, FAKE IT. Women have being doing it for years. I'll let you in on a little secret - the sexy clothes we wear can be extremely uncomfortable. We have learned to function in the world with a smile even when our feet are hurting, our bras are pinching, our stockings are falling down and we're thoroughly uncomfortable. Suck it up. Fake being confident and eventually you will be confident.

2. Manners matter!

Act like a gentleman. If you're at the bar, offer to get her a drink. If you're in a coffee store or book store, offer her a coffee. If you're on the train, offer her your seat. Show her that you know how to treat a woman. Don't approach a woman and make a crude remark about some part of her body, tell her she has a beautiful smile or stunning eyes or a great sense of style. Compliment her dress, not her legs.

1. Use eye contact to show you're interested.

Look into her eyes, hold the glance for a moment or two, then look away. Don't stare, that's creepy and will set off alarm bells for her. Good eye contact can tell her you're interested without you having to say a word. If she shares your glances, looks down or away, and then looks back at you and hold the glance, she's probably interested as well.

Angel - if more men knew them it wouldn't be necessary to keep reiterating them.
