The Super Bowl is just like with any other NFL game, any player can step up and make a difference. Fans have seen their fair share of unexpected surprises over the years. These are five of the most unlikely NFL players to earn the Super Bowl MVP award.

Deion Branch - Super Bowl XXXIX

The Patriots have seen their fair share of Super Bowl MVP award winners, but Branch was one they did not expect. His 11 receptions for 133 yards not only helped him with the award but helped him tied a NFL Super Bowl record that he shares with Jerry Rice and Dan Ross for the most receptions in a Super Bowl.

Desmond Howard - Super Bowl XXXI

Though his career in the NFL never measured up to the potential, this former Heisman winner left his mark on the biggest game of his career. He sealed the Packers' victory when ran the kickoff return for 99 yards and secured the 34-21 victory.

Larry Brown - Super Bowl XXX

There were a whole host of other Dallas Cowboys players who would have been locks for the Super Bowl MVP; Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, Deion Sanders, and Michael Irvin. Instead a 12th round pick out of TCU, Brown stepped up and became a household name when he hauled in two interceptions to help lock up the Cowboys third Super Bowl title in four seasons.

Dexter Jackson - Super Bowl XXXVII

The Buccaneers' defense helped carry the team to the Super Bowl so it was only fitting that one of their players would earn the MVP award. But it was not one of their big names who stepped up in the Super Bowl and had a career game by earning two interceptions and shutting down the Oakland Raiders potent offense.

Kurt Warner - Super Bowl XXXIV

At the beginning of the season, no one could have predicted the Rams would win the Super Bowl and that they would be led to victory by Warner, a quarterback who and spent the majority of his career in Arena Football and NFL Europe. His game winning touchdown helped the Rams secure a 23-16 victory over the Tennessee Titans and placed Warner in very special company.
