The Five Tales of Lebron James

Lebron Has a Choice to Make and Has Set a Deadline of July 5th to Decide

JP
LeBron James, King James, LBJ, whatever you want to call him has officially become a free agent as of 12:01 July 1st. Will LeBron stay seated on his throne in Cleveland, will he leave and go to Chicago and forever live behind the greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan. Will he head to Brooklyn to join Jay Z and Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov, or will he head to Miami and sit back to seat to Dwyane Wade and "his" Miami Heat and form a dynamic trio with Wade and Bosh?

If LeBron stays in Cleveland he will most likely bring no one along with him. He may never win a championship if he goes with his heart and pleases his hometown fans. There is no certainty in anything if he stays in Cleveland. He would become a god if he ever wins a championship for the city of Cleveland. But that is not foreseeable in the near future.

If LeBron packs his bags and heads to the Chicago Bulls, he will join an up and coming star, Derrick Rose. But, he will forever have to live behind Michael Jordan in the windy city. You do know what he did for the city of Chicago? LeBron would have to win 7 straight championships before he steps out from behind Jordan.

If he heads to the soon to be Brooklyn Nets he will join his good friend and successful mogul Jay Z, who is the co-owner of the Nets with Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov. He would have the potential to become a billionaire athlete, according to Mikhail Prokhorov. LeBron would be able to start his own team and have free roam to do whatever pleases him. The chances he turns a 12-70 team into a championship team in one year are pretty slim even for LeBron James.

If LeBron heads to the New York Knicks, he would be able to call the greatest arena, Madison Square Garden, home. Like the Nets, it would be his team and he would also have a hard time turning the team into a championship caliber team right away. It would take a few years and another piece or two to become a championship team.

If LeBron heads to the Miami Heat and joins forces with Dwyane Wade he will have to take the back seat to Dwyane Wade. It will be Wade's team and not LeBrons. Can LeBron live with that? Can he just play second fiddle to Wade just to win instead of being at the center of attention? If the Heat can bring in LeBron and Chris Bosh along with keeping Wade, the NBA might as well etch their names on the championship trophy. But, can three all-stars who require the ball to be in their hands at all times coexist? We may never know, or we might just have to see if they can next season.

LeBron has said he will make his decision by July 5th. But we all know he will set off his fireworks earlier. If he stays in Cleveland he may never win, if he goes to Chicago he will forever be overshadowed by Jordan, if he goes to Brooklyn he will have a tough time flipping the team right away, if he goes to the Knicks he will need time to create a championship team, and if he goes to the Heat he will join his good friend Wade and possibly Chris Bosh.

If LeBron wants to win a championship he should go to Miami with Wade and Bosh. If he is content with just tasting the NBA Finals he should stay in Cleveland. If LeBron wants to build a money making brand, then Brooklyn better watch out. There is no logical and beneficial reason for him to go to Chicago in my eyes, so they are out of the picture.

The way I see it playing out is LeBron will become a member, along with Chris Bosh, of the Miami Heat. Lead by Dwyane Wade and concocted by Pat Riley.
