The Five Worst Tasting Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans

How Does Harry Potter Deal with These?

AM
When fans of the Harry Potter universe first get their hands on Jelly Belly's Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, most are very excited to experience the magic they've read about in the books or seen on the silver screen. Well I've done my research, and through hours (okay, twenty minutes) of dangerous and death-defying tests (okay, I just ate some FDA-approved harmless jelly beans), I've managed to sort out the dangerous few beans amongst the lot.

5.) Booger

Unsure of what to expect, I bit into the Booger flavored jelly bean with nervous enthusiasm at best. The flavor hits immediately. Slightly salty with a twist of something unknown, you get more and more nervous with each chew that this is done with natural flavoring. Mmmmm.

4.) Earthworm

Another one where you don't really know where it is going to go. When you first pop it into your mouth, the flavor comes on quite slow and subtle. With a couple more chews, however, this overwhelming rubber/wax sort of taste develops and it is just too much. I had to spit this one out.

3.) Sardines

I'm not a tremendous fan of seafood to begin with, so I approached the Sardine jelly bean with contempt and disgust. It had to be done, though, and the results are predictable. The fish taste is real...and awful. A glance at the ingredient list on the jelly bean package reveals cod fish, and it is no surprise that this bean is so realistically awful. I had to spit this one out as well.

2.) Rotten Eggs

This one tastes exactly like what you'd expect it to: terrible. The flavor is spot on. The way they reproduce the rotten egg flavor with such accuracy is simply incredible. Not incredible enough to stop me from spitting this one out and having to spit a few times, though.

1.) Vomit

The worst of the worst. Approach this candy (if you can even call it that) with extreme caution. The flavor is packaged death, and all too similar to that beloved too-much-vodka flavor as you get intimate with the toilet bowl. This left tears in my eyes and a strange taste in my mouth for a good two days. Again, approach with extreme caution.

That said, Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans are all safe and all in good fun. They make a great gag gift. Just make sure you know what your friends are getting themselves into!

Note: Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans are a Jelly Belly product licensed from Scholastic and J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series.
