The Flu

Jersey
Bravely stumbling
Out of bed.
Shivering, feverish,
Sluggish, achy, and pale.
Congested, throbbing head.
Glazed, bloodshot, drooping eyes.
Ever drip-dripping nose.
Bitter metallic taste
Harassing my coated tongue.
Wheezing, labored breathing.
Coughing, hacking, barking,
Throat red, raw, and burning.
Queasy uneasy stomach.
Miserable, helpless,
Disgusting, and germy.
Exhausted, weary, and spent.
Crawling, retreating
Back to bed.
