When I entered the Café, immediately I felt a sense of a friendly neighborhood café. The colors were vibrant and the décor was eclectic and you get the feeling that you can just sit back and relax. There were vintage posters and color pictures of biscuits with wings on the tables as well as the wall art and I couldn't help but smile.
It was around 7 o'clock and I couldn't decide if I wanted dinner or breakfast. Those of you who know me well know which I chose. That's right, it was breakfast! I prefer breakfast over dinner anytime. Therefore I went for the Oatmeal pancakes. The pancakes were topped with peach compote and were extremely flavorful. However, I wouldn't recommend eating the pancakes that late in the evening as they are very heavy and you may need to take a run on the treadmill after consumption.
The Flying Biscuit Café has a diverse menu that includes breakfast favorites such as the Southern scramble which includes 3 scrambled eggs with turkey bacon, spicy greens, onions, cheddar cheese, and grits and of course it's served with their famous biscuit. The biscuit is the star of any dish at the café. It is a rather large biscuit that comes with a fruit chutney sauce that only enhances the wonderful flavor of this flakey, sumptuous favorite.
Some of my other favorite dishes at the Flying Biscuit include the Shrimp and Grits, Oven Fried Chicken, and the Biscuit Pot Pie. The Biscuit Pot Pie includes 2 Flying Biscuits, creamed chicken, celery, onion, potatoes and peas. This dish is a twist on the traditional Chicken Pot Pie and has a flavor that will keep you coming back for more.
There are several Flying Biscuit Café's located in Georgia, so check your local listening for the one nearest you. The two locations that I frequent are in Norcross located at 5270 Peachtree Parkway #120 Norcross, GA 30092 (770) 407-5885 and in Sandy Springs at 5975 Roswell Road, Atlanta, GA 30328 404-252-1182. Give them a call today to make a reservation or book your next birthday or office celebration.
Bottom-line: Great food, unique atmosphere with prices ranging from $5.00 to $8.00 for breakfast and lunch and $8.00 to $15.00 for dinner. The Flying Biscuit Café is a great spot for individuals and families.
