The Ford Start Concept: Worth a Look and a Long Stare

Kyle Busch
This Ford Start Concept
has the look of an icon.
Usually smartly styled
small cars such as the
Volkswagen Beetle,
Fiat 500, and the Mini
Cooper have come from
Europe.

However, the Start
comes from Ford (the
automaker has some
very good European
designs).

Regarding this car, Automobile states, "We think this coupe - and it is
a coupe, not a hatchback- is super cool, which is not surprising given
that the design team had a 1956 Porsche Speedster and a 1960 Alfa
Romeo Giulietta Sprint Zagato in the studio while they worked on the
Start."

The Start Concept is based on a shortened Fiesta platform and it
has a direct injected 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder with
the automaker's EcoBoost treatment. Thus, the Start is fuel
efficient!

The engine will go into production. Unfortunately, the Start is
not headed into production as of yet. Considering the Start's
fresh design and good looks, I think the Start will not be stopped
down the road. Ford will have a winner with this car. The auto-
maker needs to get it into production as soon as possible!
