The Forgotten Cancelled?

The Forgotten cancelled? Why has ABC pulled the plug on a show before it finished the first season. The jury may have still been out but ABC has decided The Forgotten needs to be cancelled.

The show won't even finish out it's first season in it's entirety. Talk about premature endings? The Forgotten was that show about The Forgotten Network-a group of amateur detectives who work for free to figure out the origins and the mystery surrounding the death of those who have been forgotten. It was a unique crime show. I'll have to admit the show had flaws and often went for simple fixes to complex problems. But does The Forgotten need to be canceled this soon?

Christian Slater was the main star of The Forgotten and the show recently had added Elisha Cuthbert. Ratings weren't very good and ABC didn't want to extend the life of The Forgotten apparently even if it had a small cult following. It turns out that small cult followings can only be endorsed when they are centered around cable television shows.

ABC apparently doesn't have the patience to stick with a show long enough to see if it will eventually develop a following. I would say it's a new trend in television but similar shows have been cancelled prematurely in years past. The major networks don't have any patience it seems with mediocrity when it comes to ratings. In this case, The Forgotten wasn't getting the job done across the board.

It's one of those shows that may disappear into oblivion or resurface on a cable network like Southland.
Let's hope The Forgotten gets one more chance and make ABC regret the day it canceled.
