Colorado is a world class tourist destination. Colorado is know for its natural wonders and beauty as well as its history. Colorado is even known for having some interesting and unusual restaurants but only one of these restaurants is a historic landmark.

The Fort is located at 19192 Highway 8 in Morrison Colorado near Denver. To be honest I have to assume that Colorado is very liberal with recognizing historic places. The Fort is made to be an exact replica of a real historic Bent's Fort. While that is nice it hardly makes the replica historic.

You might expect that a restaurant right on the Highway would be questionable but The Fort actually is a high end restaurant. Meals range in price at The Fort from $30-50. The Fort is not the place for vegetarians. The Fort offers many kinds of meats. The Fort's speciality is rare game meats. Many people will only get to eat some of the foods they serve here and no where else unless they are a hunter.

While Rocky Mountain Oysters are common to Colorado and can be found at The Fort too The Fort top game pick is bison. They have lots of bison meals. However if bison is not your favorite game meat they have duck, as well as elk. Unlike some places that have buffalo burgers or buffalo steak at The Fort you can get your bison prepared all kinds of ways from steak to ribs and everything else.

The Fort is very classy and not the place for kids. Business attire is expected. While some may find the outdoors man menu a bit primitive The Fort is just like any 5 star restaurant anywhere else except that most of what it serves is not cow but bison.

The Fort is a good place to go if you have the money. It may sound odd to eat buffalo but it is very similar to beef and is healthier. Most people tend to like bison better then beef once they try it.
