The Four Best Law Firms in Luzerne County

The legal community in Luzerne County is strong and ambitious. During the last judicial election, about a dozen outstanding lawyers ran for two positions on the bench.

There are a number of law firms in Luzerne County that I would trust my life with. A look at the local telephone book reveals that there are numerous lawyers to choose from. As with any citizen, I have only dealt with a few of them, and I have been impressed with the ones I met. This essay is based on my own personal experience and not extensive research. The law firms are not listed in any order of importance.

Lenahan and Dempsey P.C. This is a family business that was started a generation ago. They have offices throughout northeastern Pennsylvania. Their motto is, "The Right Choice When Things Go Wrong." Several years ago, I was part of a mock trial, as a member of a focus group that was supposed to advise the lawyers of the validity of their case. Attorney Lenahan presented an enthusiastic, vigorous, and energetic case for his client. His client received the best possible argument for her point of view. A thorough, comprehensive, and complete case was presented in order to advance the client's interests. We must believe they do the same for all of their clients. If you hire them as your lawyer, you should receive the best possible representation.

Rosenn Jenkins & Greenwald LLP. This law firm was established by the late Judge Rosenn, who was one of the finest jurists in the history of Pennsylvania. This law firm employs some of the most outstanding lawyers in the area. I have had only minimal contact with this firm on legal issues. I am highly impressed by how they perform publicly, and I believe their legal work is as outstanding as their public work.

Every year they provide a major award to an outstanding individual in a number of different career fields. The recipient comes to Wilkes-Barre to receive the award and gives a speech which is free to the public. Many lawyers and their families attend these events which are always very professionally done. Six or seven years ago, journalist and Middle East expert, Robin Wright received the award. She gave a speech on her perspective on the Iraq War and how it affected the Middle East. She filled the auditorium and held the audience's attention throughout the speech. During the question and answer period, just about everyone got up to ask a question. It was an awesome performance, and a reflection of the standard of excellence this firm strives to achieve.

Dougherty Leventhal & Price LLP. They are also known as DLP. They have a catchy commercial, that states "Injury Call DLP." They are very good at personal injury cases, and I would highly recommend them to anyone who has a personal injury case. They have given me great advice over the years about personal injury issues.

Attorney Barry Dyller. They say you cannot fight city hall and if you must then you need a good lawyer. For civil rights issues or anything related to dealing with the government, Attorney Barry Dyller is highly recommended. I have heard his interviews on the local talk radio station, and he is very impressive on these issues.
