The Four Best Web Comics

cheeze
If you're ever bored, then you can easily waste hours of that time by reading archives of web comics. These are four web comics that I have viewed for a long time (most of them for years) and I can guarantee that they are up and beyond the standards of web comics. The first three comics are, however, heavily based off of video games so it may be difficult for the average reader to get some of the "inside jokes".

Penny Arcade
Very popular web comic. This series delves into the lives Tycho Brahe and Jonathan Gabriel and their insane addiction to video games.

I highly recommend this to anyone who keeps up with news in technology and science, especially the gaming and gadgets side. The stories are often hilarious and the non-canonical comics usually depict some big company and their problems. Constant updates and super fast responses to news make this comic well worth the time for an almost daily read.

VG Cats
Despite its slow update compared to other comics, these are often very high quality.

If you only read comics once in a while (like me), then this is really good because they update only once a week (if even!) but are really funny. Almost exclusively devoted to games, this may not appeal to as many people as Penny Arcade. However, the jokes made are not usually in-game as they often feature the "realities" of games and the ironic side of some really stupid things.

8-Bit Theatre
Featuring Thief, Black Mage, Fighter and Red Mage and their struggle against each other (and the world).

Shown in the classic pixelated form, these characters are easy to remember and difficult to forget. You have the super awesome Thief (Ninja now), evil but fair Black Mage (Blue Mage), stupid and hilarious Fighter (Knight) and the obviously-has-no-idea-what-game-this-is Red Mage (Mime). Called the "Heroes of Light", they are nothing but silly characters going around on quests like Final Fantasy but features hilarious scenes that are usually only seen on the television. Highly recommended for everyone who enjoys reading an incredibly deep but hilarious story (nearly 900 comics!). Have fun!

xkcd
A non-video game based web comic. It features much satire of the world; usually with an underlying message depicted in a funny way.

There's no much to say about this except that it is slightly pessimistic. So if you're a person who's looking for the good parts of the world, you may want to look elsewhere; for everyone else, prepare to learn some things about the world!

Love math which probably lead to my interest in programming; later started the violin which lead to music which is starting to overpower the programming side. College now. Yay.  View profile

I do not have a laptop, so do not know if it is possible, but it would be great to have a monitor on the floor, to read the way does offline, laying on my stomach, propped up on elbows. I am not much for comics or gaming, but I am bored, so might give the last a try. Sometimes, misery loves company. : >
