The Four Biggest Questions Lost Must Answer in It's Final Season

Lost Returns on February 2nd with It's Final Season, These Are the Questions it Must Answer

After five seasons over six years, the television phenomenon known as Lost will finally end in May 2010. There are many questions they have to still answer, some small and others big. Here are the biggest four questions Lost needs to answers before it's run is over. I am skipping the obvious ones like did the bomb being set off during the "incident" cause reality to be rewritten or not, as that will be answered in the very first episode. These are more larger purpose questions that have been hanging around for the majority of the five seasons of Lost.

4) What is the importance of the kids? Early on the Others seemed determined to get a hold of the children of the lost castaways. Starting with Claire's unborn baby and then later taking Walt. Walt seemed to exhibit special powers that have never been explained, while Claire's baby was said to be important and bad things would happen if she weren't the one to raise it. Now yes we know pregnancies don't go well on the island (still not sure why though, which is another question that folds into this) but we don't know the deeper importance of Claire's baby Erin or Walt. Yes Walt is much older now, but Lost still needs to resolve this issue. They brought Michael back to finish his arc, they need to finish with Walt as well, even if it's just a throw away line.

3) What exactly is the smoke monster? Lost sold itself right away as something different, and initial commercials hinted heavily at the existence of a monster. In fact the first season finale of Lost relied a lot on finally showing the monster for the first time. Then we got a puff of smoke, some Lost fans were a bit disappointed by this but we accepted and the creators showed why a monster of smoke is so bad ass. But we still don't know WHAT it is. Is it a security system? Is it advanced technology? Alien? Created by a God? Is it the man in black or Richard Alpert? It's been one of the biggest mysteries and there needs to be a clear cut answer.

2) What is the purpose of the Others? The Others have been around since the first season, and even though we have met the leader of the Others, as well as one of our main characters has become the newest leader, been to their bases, seen flashbacks featuring them, and have even met the man they truly answer to, Jacob; we still have no real clue what their purpose is. The creators of Lost have given us hints, but never explained why the exist, why are they sometimes killers and other times peaceful. Are they good or are they bad? And most importantly when and why were they formed?

1) Why these people? There is now proof that Jacob and the "man in black" have had hands in getting the main characters onto the island, but why? What is the conflict between Jacob and the man? Why did they need Jack and not the surgeon down the hall? Why Hurley? And so on. Lost started off showing the special events of each character and how it lead them to the island with episodes of flashbacks, they just need to follow up and explain why these people and not some other random yahoo.
