The Fourth Kind Preview

This Scary Thriller Will Have You at the Edge of Your Seat

Jim Kelly
After the recent success of the indie flick Paranormal Activity people are in the mood to be getting scared it seems. Horror movies haven't really been the same and a bunch of copy cat, blood and guts type movies have been put out instead of the intense, crafty and smart ones. Paranormal Activity had me up at night looking around the room with the lights on wondering if the same thing could happen to me. However, at heart I'm a true skeptic and can't fathom events that took place in that movie actually happening. But in The Fourth Kind, I can see where skeptics can be changed into true believers. Here are some reasons why this movie will get to you more than Paranormal Activity and why it will be entrenched in your mind for years.

1. It's based on a true story. The story is of Abigail Tyler, a psychologist who interviews traumatized people in Nome, Alaska. however, state medical examiners and officials say they don't have any record of Tyler ever working or even existing. Could it be a cover up? A trick? A media hoax to get people more interested? Did Tyler even exist? It just eats at you to know these answers and Milla Jovovich turns in a commanding performance of Tyler that will have you believing she really did and does exist.

2. Alien abduction. The last movie I've seen about alien abduction was the War of the Worlds remake with Tom Cruise and it was awful. It was very unrealistic and I couldn't stay awake during it to be honest. This movie brings back the mind games, the questions, the possibilities. Nothing seems to far out of the ordinary and you truly believe that these events did and could happen.

3. Real footage. This is something to me that seems unprecedented in movie making. The movie combines actors performances with real life footage. The footage does not seem fake or rehearsed and the actions and noises that come from the footage is something that you would never dream of. This is the part of the movie that will keep you up at night wondering if its possible, if we're not alone.
