Carnie, Beach Boy Brian Wilson's daughter and Wilson Phillips singer, had been out of the celebrity spotlight for a while when her weight struggles thrust her back in. In 1999 she had gastric bypass surgery to try to lose some weight, and was very successful, dropping from 300 pounds to 150 pounds. However, after the surgery she gained back some of the weight she lost from the surgery, tipping the scale at 230 pounds. Her next weight loss stop was "Celebrity Fit Club" in 2006 before she took another stab at weight loss this year.
"The Fresh Diet" Blog explains Carnie's journey with their plan. "After going on The Dr. Oz Show in January and admitting, "I need help," with her weight, mom of two Carnie, 42, signed on with The Fresh Diet the next month. Every day, their calorie-controlled meals - made up of 40 percent carbs, 30 percent fats and 30 percent protein - were dropped off on her doorstep. And although she lost 19 lbs. by June, when she hit the red carpet for the Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards, Fresh Diet CEO Zalmi Duchman says that soon afterward, Carnie began cheating on her diet."
So what exactly is "The Fresh Diet"? It's a meal delivery service that's delivered daily, and includes 3 meals and 2 snacks. Those on the diet can only eat what's delivered. There are 4 options for meals daily, so there are a few meal choices, but otherwise there are no 'real world' substitutions. You eat what you're given. Also, according to the official site, "Just as important to the proper balance of meals is exceptional taste. Think about this. How many times have you tasted "diet" foods that tasted terrible? The Fresh Diet was created by a Cordon Bleu Institute trained chef, and all of our kitchens are staffed with gourmet chefs. Together they prepare 40/30/30 (carbohydrates/fats/proteins) meals that are sinfully delicious, properly balanced, and perfectly portioned for ideal nutrition and weight loss."
"If you're baking cheesecake and selling it, then you can't promote a diet company," Duchman explained. The truth is, if you're representing a diet plan that you can't eat anything but their products, they're probably going to be upset when you try to sell any other food, since it goes against their plan.
