The Frog Has Finally Jumped

D. Calhoun
As the 2010 Mid-term election's fog of war begins to lift, I only just now realize that this was exactly as it was supposed to happen. Two years ago there were many far-sighted individuals who grew tired of the creeping liberalism within Washington, DC and the Republican Party. Faced with voting for a moderate Republican, John McCain in 2008, and the prospect of continuing Bush Era policies, these visionary voters reasoned that they should punish the Republican Party; vote them out of office, and vote for the radical Democrat, Barrack Hussein Obama. Instead of merely continuing to watch the anchor of conservatism drag the ship onto the rocks of Socialism, they would deliberately throw the gear into reverse and power towards disaster.

When they, along with the adoring throngs of Democrats, succeed in voting Obama into office, I was incredulous. Why would Americans protest creeping Liberalism by voting for one of the most liberal Democrats to come along? The answer,of course, was that they knew that given enough rope, the Democrats would hang themselves. They correctly foresaw things getting so bad under ultra-leftist leadership, that America would suddenly wake up. That in order to stop the proverbial frog from continuing to sit in the pot of the increasingly hot water of liberalism, the 2008 voters would have to allow a radical plunge into the rapidly boiling water of Socialism. Only this, could prompt the frog to jump to its freedom. Well, yesterday was the day. The frog has finally jumped; making this a truly historic occasion.

It was the largest Republican back swing since the nineteen thirties! But, not a swing back to the old liberal Republican Party, rife with RINOs and moderates. The conservative Tea Party movement made sure of that. They voted out many moderate incumbent Republicans in the 2010 Primary Elections and replaced them with conservative newcomers. In fact, even Independents voted out the moderate and more conservative, so called"Blue Dog," Democrats in the very same Primaries. This whole process eliminated many of the moderates from both sides of the isle whose compromises were seen as contributing to the undesirable status-quo in Washington. Then, a more polarized field of politicians awaited the votes of a more energized and polarized electorate. And just as the far-sited conservatives predicted two years ago, the Republican Party made historic gains, and America is better off today.
