The Frustrated Karaoke Queen

My Top Ten Favorite Songs

May
As Abba proudly belted in the song "Thank you to the Music", I always think I began to sing long before I could talk. Music is in my blood, I live and breathe it. I've been a church choir member since I was six years old and have joined and won several singing contests in school and community events. Growing up with fondness for music, I love the fact that everybody seems to love listening to me when I start to sing. That goes without saying that I love singing in videokes and karaokes so much even with the fact that I sing (paid) in hotels and other venues, alone or with my bandmates.

Now that I'm given the opportunity to share my most favorite karaoke songs, was I glad! I would like to share more than ten as there are so many beautiful songs out there but of course I've always been a law-abiding citizen. :) I will make it look like a countdown from 10 to 1, with 1 as my most favorite Karaoke song (meaning, I don't go out of any karaoke or videoke event without singing the song). So here they are:

10. One Hello by Randy Crawford (There's a popular female version here in the Philippines, sang by Jinky of the Freestyle band)

9. Evergreen by Barbra Streisand (The way love should be)

8. I Need To Be Inlove byThe Carpenters (A reflection of my non-existent lovelife)

7. Dancing Queenby Abba (I like seeing my listeners dance and groove to the music)

6. Till My Heartaches End by Ella Mae Saison (Reminds me of my numerous heartbreaks)

5.Better Days by Diane Reeves (For my grandparents, whom I love so much)

4. All The Man That I Need byWhitney Houston (I don't know, I just love the lyrics and the melody of this song)

3. I Love You Goodbye byCeline Dion (Again, a reflection of my non-existent lovelife, I wonder why I always end up saying goodbye after "i love you")

2. Saving All My Love For You by Whitney Houston(Don't get me wrong, I have never been the "other woman", I just love this particular Whitney Houston song, so full of emotions and meaning)

.... and in the number one spot... (No, it's not Frank Sinatra's My Way) :)

1. How Did You Know by Chiqui Pineda(Yes, she's a local artist and I love her version of the song. I always sing this song in weddings as well, makes everybody swoon and fall inlove)

Obviously, I take my videoke and karaoke sessions personally. The songs I sing are more or less meaningful in my life, or if not, they're just plain beautiful and melodious. I understand Valentine's Day is just around the bend and these songs are perfect for those who are in love, who fell out of love, who wants to give love a try and those who would love to take a break from love. Enjoy!
