The Fun Family - a Poetic Jest to Warn Our Guests

Linda Ann Nickerson

We welcome you into our place;
We're glad you came to stay.
Ignore our crazy warp-speed pace;
Relax, enjoy your day.

Don't look beneath the bedspread,
And keep the cupboards closed.
The dresser drawers are filled with dread
With which we're predisposed.

Don't mention if our kids sneak out
To meet their friends at night,
Or if our neighbor passes out
And causes quite a fright.

We take dysfunction, make it fun;
Don't call it a syndrome.
If you don't like it, turn and run,
Or, better yet, go home.

    I agree with everything except the line "glad you came to stay"; with "stay" being the operative word here that bothers me. Very cool poem!!
