There are a lot of people who you know that are abusing drugs and alcohol, but they still manage to maintain. Normally when you think of someone using drugs and alcohol, you feel as if they are not worthy of functioning like the majority of us. But you'd be amazed at how many people are actually using drugs and alcohol. Society shows us how some people, when on drugs/alcohol, are sluggish, without motivation and just downright invalid.
I hate to disagree in some cases, because I know personally that some people can actually be motivated once they've had their fix. I truly believe that after a while, one gets immune to the impairment these drugs/alcohol causes, and thus they can handle it a bit better than most. I've seen stone cold alcoholics act as natural as the rest of us, and are totally drunk; Some people cannot even manage without a drink or two. Imagine that!
Although marijuana doesn't cause people to do certain things like driving and causing a fatal accident, but it's mind altering as well as alcohol. Marijuana does take on an effect where the user generally feels more relaxed than usual, and may lead to one not wanting to do too many activities, but it also relaxes a person enough to omit stress, and get more mental work accomplished.
It's a known fact that using cocaine stimulates the body, and this can lead to the person being highly energetic, or impatient. But out of all the examples I've given, cocaine is the most addictive. Normally, a person can tell right off when a person is using cocaine, but in certain instances, the detection of a user can be easily overlooked. This can be true when you have a functional smoker, as people call them. This functional smoker can not only handle their daily activities, but they also use the stimulating senses to accomplish things and if they keep their appearance up, nine times out of ten, no one will notice.
This just goes to show that not all abusers are down and out with their indulgences, but it is true that if one continues to abuse drugs/alcohol, it will sooner or later take a toll on not only your body, but your mind as well.
