The Funniest Halloween Memory

I guess the funniest Halloween I can remember was when I was in high school and in the 4-H Club. My father agreed to pull a wagon with our tractor on a hay ride. It was a cold but clear night, and we all were having the time of our lives.

One of the geniuses aboard decided to hop off the wagon, run ahead, and hide and scare the daylights out of everybody. Dangerous, yes; stupid idea, yes; funny as all get out, you bet it was.

Everyone was talking and laughing and having such a wonderful time. And that is when it happened. At the end of the road where my father had to stop, the boy waited for his victims. At first everyone kept hearing a low moaning and just thought it was someone on the wagon. But it seemed to get louder as we got closer to the stop sign.

My father came to a stop and had to wait for several seconds because the traffic was flowing pretty good. And that is when it happened. Our not so favorite person after that, jumped up from the ground, ran and hopped on the wagon while screaming at the top of his lungs. You talk about some screaming. We all screamed so loud that my father pulled the tractor over to the side of the road to make sure everyone was alright. One little girl was crying and the rest of us was in a state of shock (and anger).

When we got back to where the ride ended, needless to say, the guy got what was coming to him. He ended up with a "wedgie", a "noogie", and (in 40 degree weather) a bucket of water thrown on him.

After everyone had settled down and was back to "normal", we all had a big gigantic laugh. And to this day whenever I see any of those people or they "boogie man" , as we called him after that, we still laugh about it. I guess that is the one funniest Halloween memories I will never forget.
