The Funniest Writers on Associated Content

AC Sources of Giggles, Guffaws, Snickers, Snorts, and Hoots

Maria Roth
How often are you really laughing out loud when you type "LOL"? Ha! I knew you were lying! When you read the work of the AC writers I'm going to introduce here, you won't have to lie about laughing out loud. I mean it! These AC writers regularly induce dangerous paroxysms of laughter. (By the way, I'm focusing on writers who have less than 100,000 page views. You all already know and love theBarefoot, Mike Hatz, and Timothy Sexton, right?)

The Funniest Writers on AC: MickeysBigMouth

"Hey, Mickey, you're so fun, you're so fun, you should've won...Hey, Mickey! (clap, clap, clap) Hey, Mickey!"

Mickey should've won the "Craziest Creative Source on AC" contest. But it's hard to win a contest that doesn't exist. Too bad. Mickey writes hilarious articles and also shoots funny videos, such as "Financial Crisis Fun with Super Glue," and occasionally records goofy audio clips-"Denny's Restaurant Phone Call" is my favorite. I shouldn't admit this, but out of all of Mickey's articles, I think I laughed hardest at "Squeek the Fish Has an Intestinal Problem." That caption under the picture of Squeek kills me.

The Funniest Writers on AC: Frank Mucci

How is it that only 39 people have added Frank Mucci as a favorite? HUH? I urge you to read all of Frank's "what is it and where did it come from?" articles. "Texas: What is it and Where Did it Come From?" is my all-time favorite. But Frank always cracks me up. Don't try to drink any coffee or soda pop or anything else while you're reading his work. Frank is like a sweet, generous, perverted uncle to me.

The Funniest Writers on AC: Morag Mortimer-Smythe

Don't be fooled by Morag's profile picture. Morag Mortimer-Smythe is not a sexy, naked woman, but he is one of the cleverest writers on AC. Morag writes excellent limericks, takes gorgeous pictures, and gives us unique articles such as "My First Time" and, my favorite, "The Scribe in the Valley of Associated Content." Morag also leaves some of the funniest comments on other writers' AC articles.

The Funniest Writers on AC: Linda Louise Johnson

I adore Crazy Auntie Linda, with her pinecone turkeys and candy-cane candle holders. "How to Blame Other People When You Screw Up" is a very helpful article, and please don't overlook this gem: "How to Get a Free Grill from a Major Grocery or Department Store." Linda also writes wonderful Christian poetry and entertaining news stories. Gosh, I really love Linda Louise Johnson! You all will, too!

The Funniest Writers on AC: Thomas Lane

Thomas Lane is a skilled poet and comedy writer. I love his "Ask Mr. Tom" series-especially "Ask Mr. Tom 21," which answers the question, "Just how cold are a witch's breasts?" "The Lane Brothers' Point-Counterpoint Guides to Etiquette for Young Men" are also lots of fun. "Correspondence: Informal and Out" is my favorite "Guide to Etiquette" so far. Thanks to Tom and his brother, I finally know how to write a proper business letter. I think it goes something like this:

Dear Alex Chimichanga (AC),

Keep up the good work, dude! No matter how much those nutty contributors complain, don't listen! That'll show 'em! You're my hero, Alex!

Hugs and kisses,

Moofie Rumples (MR)

The Funniest Writers on AC: Bat Canary

Bat Canary writes the most hysterical TV show recaps I've ever read. Her "American Idol" recaps were far more entertaining than the actual show. I hope she decides to recap some of the "So You Think You Can Dance" shows this summer. (Pretty please, Bat Canary? I'm begging you!) Bat Canary is also a gifted artist; check out her "Celebrity Portraits - Tom Cruise and Others" slideshow. Is she good or what?! Bat Canary has written so many fun poems and hilarious "Dumb Stuff I Have Observed" articles, it's hard to pick out my favorite. I like this article an awful, awful lot: "Rules to Follow When You are Being Chased in a Horror Movie."

The Funniest Writers on AC: Nancy Canfield

Nancy V. Canfield is a goddess of observational humor! She's published many, many great articles, and she's a talented poet, too. Here is a recent article that I absolutely adore--"Feng Shui and Wang Chung." Just do yourself a favor and subscribe to Nancy right now. She publishes frequently, but that's good news for you. Save her articles for whenever you need a good laugh.

The Funniest Writers on AC: Who did I forget?

There's an actual "humor" section at AC, you know, where funny people post new articles every single day. Oh, you didn't know? What's that? You've never seen a "humor" article featured on AC's front page? Well, if I had any sway around here (and, believe me, I don't), I'd feature articles written by MickeysBigMouth, Frank Mucci, Morag Mortimer-Smythe, Linda Louise Johnson, Thomas Lane, Bat Canary, and Nancy Canfield on the front page of Associated Content as often as I could. Don't forget to read the funny stuff, people! Please feel free to add links to your favorite funny AC writers in the comments section below. Thanks!

I love popcorn, cashews, cheesecake, Jane Austen, my husband and children, and Conan O'Brien. Why should you be jealous of me? I am double-jointed in both thumbs, I live in Kansas, I'm tall, and I'm modest...  View profile

What a wonderful idea for an article. I am fairly new to the site and it's nice to have some direction on whom to read for laughs. It's so considerate of you promote these authors with less page views. Wish someone would give a voice for creative writers and poets as no one seems to search for poetry much! I enjoyed your wit! BTW-sometimes when I write LOL, Imean LOTS OF LOVE.. LOL . Warm regards, rama devi
