Abstract

One of the hospitals that I recently worked for was a magnet hospital. They were very rewarding to the nursing profession. They exhausted a lot of focus on analysis and methodical evaluations of all nurses and their future in nursing and with the facility.

Health Care Resources
In our hospital management focuses completely on involvement with the nursing work environment and professional development. Providing the nursing team with a multidisciplinary team that focus on pre and post customer satisfaction is one of the ways management helps support the nurses. (LifeSpan 2006) Nurses have a lot of responsibilities and at time don't have enough time to make sure that everything is covered. Our team is there to intercept them and also teach and plan discharges. This team is a big help to the nurses because they can make us feel more at ease when things get to hectic and you know you can't spend enough time with a family that really needs you. One of our management tools is to let the team or supervisor know who it is that needs more attention or help with discharge and the team is alerted and starts to intercept the patient and family. One time I had a patient that was newly diagnosed with diabetes and didn't know anything about the disease. This patient needed a lot of attention and a lot of teaching and we were full on all units and of course short handed. The team was new at this approach and had a lot on their plate as well. However, the team got the referral and begun to plan the patients education and discharge. During the patient's care I was able to evaluate what the patient was learning or still needed and the team was doing a wonderful job.

The hospital is continuing to work hard at keeping the magnet status and with the support of all its employees; I believe they will keep the magnet title. The facility encourages and offers advancements in education and continuing education opportunities. There is a program called the stepping ladder that is offered on the intranet and all nurses have access to and it is all CEU based courses that keep the nurses not only up on their CEU's but also on all nursing issues and latest technology. Our management is very good with supporting their nurses and making them know that they have what is needed. Our management goes through extensive leadership training inside and outside the facility to ensure that they are equipped to handle all employee issues without a negative turn out. Overall I believe the facility is going to maintain the magnet status and continue to completely give a high rate of customer satisfaction. The facility is a very highly motivational place to work.
