The Game - L.A.X. Early Album Review

Does the Game Deliver the West Coast on L.A.X.?

The Reviewer
The Game is one of the most controversial rappers in all of hip hop. The Compton born and bred MC is notorious for his beefs with numerous rappers. Now The Game is back to truly prove if controversy equals record sales. On his third album which might be his last, The Game drops L.A.X.

The first single off of L.A.X. is the Knobody produced Game's Pain featuring Keyshia Cole. The song is basically The Game's tribute to hip hop legends of the past. The track is solid and a great way to reintroduce The Game to the marketplace.

The second single is Dope Boys featuring rock star drummer Travis Barker. The track is fairly solid and catchy. The song just has the energy that you expect from The Game.

On the third single The Game teams with Lil Wayne on the Cool & Dre produced My Life. The song is more of the introspective style that you expect from The Game. However, Lil Wayne would be better served as a featured rapper as well as providing the chorus.

J.R. Rotem produces Gentleman's Affair featuring R&B crooner Ne-Yo. The track is a fairly solid commercial track. The beat is fairly catchy and the song does a fine job of appealing to the masses.

Kanye West produces Angel which features Chi-Town rapper Common joining The Game. The song is different than tracks that you expect from the game. The track seems more like a conscious rap track than one from the Compton rapper.

Ya Heard features Atlanta rapper Ludacris. The track just has too much going on for it to be effective. The verses might be strong but the styles do not mix well.

Hi-Tek produces Letter To The King featuring Queens rapper Nas. The track features a solid 1970's sample and solid verses from each of the rappers.

State Of Emergency teams The Game with fellow West Coast legend Ice Cube. The song is one of the better on the album because it channels The Game's raw energy and lyrical ability.

Bulletproof Diaries features Raekwon from the Wu-Tang Clan. The track is fairly solid and features a very different sounding beat. There are various little blips and sound effects throughout the track that distract from the verses.

Scott Storch produces the Chrisette Michelle featured Let Us Live. The track is just decent and nothing special.

DJ Toomp produces House Of Pain. The track has more of a rock edge to it than tracks usually produced by DJ Toomp. The song is ultimately forgettable.

Overall L.A.X. is a good album yet just not great. Overall L.A.X. gets 8 out of 10. If you are a fan of The Game make sure you pick up his album L.A.X. when it is available in stores on August 30th.

the rest of my reply: it shows that people (whether they like Black Wallstreet or not) dont like 50 snitch. the games 3 mixtape albums before L.A.X all went platinum...and that says alot about the game...mixtape albums going platinum...then he releases a "real" solo album and its on pace for multi platinum status.....

    .........:::::::Black Wall Street:::::::..........

    true dat....
as far as i know, the game hasnt really "DISSED" anybody on the album outright. these ppl and there critiques are garbage. this website doesnt have enough credit to even have an opinion. the idiot who wrote the reviews on the game didnt even say anything about "L.A.X. Files" which is a very west coast style hit. and for the opinion on Lil Wayne helping w/ " my life" ...if we heard a weezy verse on that you would be the first to say that he neede wayne for hype. personally, i think that track coulda been better if anthony hamilton sang the hook instead of lil wayne. Now, to the haters who think i hate lil wayne, get a grip. i like wayne, but album sales cant compare the game has outsold lil wayne in every album thats been sold.

    L.A.X vs T.O.S.
game vs 50.............sort of.. i like this here because it finally proves that game sales more...i know its a g unit album but that means it should sale more that just over 100K. thats a joke. it proves that more and more pp

See, I can't stand websites like this that do album reviews on hip hop albums and don't know jack about hip hop. They start the review by saying "Now The Game is back to truly prove if controversy equals record sales". Have they payed attention to hip hop at all? Game hasn't gone at anybody that hasn't gone at him first. They make it sound like Game is fabricating beefs to get record sales, which is bs. He's standing his ground and not taking any punches from any other rapper. Then they go and glorify 50 cent and give him good reviews when HE'S the one that his success has relied soley on beef. Game is by far a better lyricist than these websites give him credit for. They review the album and base it on the bounce and the whole club feel element. Bottom line associatedcontent.com....he is a west coast rapper. This is the vibe they've always had and always will. Stop doin reviews on a culture you know nothing about...ohhh...and D4 and Kalisone, i def dig what ya'll sayin
