The Garden Fairy Massacre - Part II

And the Mystery is Solved

Donna Cavanagh
The days have been so dry and hot
My garden was thirsty and parched
I dragged the hose to the back of the yard
And from my garden beds an animal marched

The groundhog was back; we have had our skirmishes
He has pummeled my garden in the past
He thinks my veggies are his own eat-all-you-can-eat buffet
I think, if he is not careful, these days will be his last

He saw the hose but he did not move
I admit his bravery was impressive
I pointed the nozzle and said "Make my Day"
In his eyes, I noticed a look more determined and aggressive

He ran to my flower beds and hid behind my wounded fairy
Whose broken wings are held together now with glue
The groundhog glared at me as if to say
I broke your fairies and your little gnome too

Yes, he was behind my garden massacre
He maimed my fairies and decapitated my gnome
All because he wanted my vegetables
He wanted that garden to become his home

I was shocked by the gall of this rodent
I had saved his fur from my dogs before
Instead of gratitude, he shows only defiance
And now, I am willing to even the score

Go ahead, you brazen critter
Go feast on my veggies and melon
The dogs are prowling, waiting to avenge my lost gnome
They will get you my four-legged felon

At least you know who is to blame. I have a feeling that soon this groundhog will see his Groundhog Day... Shame you couldn't have given him a good powerful squirt right on the nose...

We had a raccoon invading our privacy this evening. These critters seem to come in all shapes and forms.

He moved out of our yard and into yours! I know him - he's relentless! Cheers :)

Ahhhhh! The little creature was hungry and proceeded to destroy everything in its path.

Groundhog, eh? So that's the culprit. I'm glad you solved the mystery. I've never had worse than raccoons, myself.

We've had groundhogs in our yard before; they can be very destructive!
