The Garden Tree

Daniel Grimwood

Sharp shot, then ants crawl,

Clamber, life's cruel,

The wet of the swimming pool,

Chances never had, they fall,

Marching, strong and tall,

Up the trunk into the tool

Shed.

Forests of grass,

Flowers, plants, pass,

Up table leg,

Cross table,

Down table leg,

The thoughts thrive in the mind,

Millions, in the undergrowth,

Mind the man who mows,

Grooves in the patio,

Care for that human's toe.

Sharp shot, then ants crawl,

Leaves part in the hot,

The crispy earth and flavour,

Marching, strong and tall.
