The Gay Agenda Battle Against Churches

Benjamin Ira Mikell

Since the establishment of the church on the Day of Pentecost more than 2,000 years ago, the world has sought ways to fight against the teachings found in the word of God, molding the church to fit their lifestyle, creating lawsuits (against churches, individuals, groups, schools, government, and businesses), and doing harm to anyone who gets in their way. During the last century, atheists won many of their lawsuits against schools to remove the reading of the Bible and prayer. They are not the only group battling against the church and the Bible.

The homosexual community is continuing to make efforts to battle against what they see as "homophobia" and "oppression." They believe what Christians preach and teach as well as say publicly about their lifestyle is offensive and violates their "rights" to live without being told they are in sin and need to change. Already, their efforts have been successful, in that many churches who once stood firm for the truth against the homosexual lifestyle are now strong supporters and have allowed homosexuals to serve as preachers, pastors, and in other church capacities.

Ultimately, they hope to make gay marriage legal in every state as well as on the federal level, create laws that make it illegal for anyone to say anything negative about their lifestyle and punish those who violate those laws, ban or rewrite the Bible to support their beliefs, etc. In addition, they are trying to make any speech, whether displayed, written, or spoken, against homosexuality, hate speech.

This battle in some ways makes it difficult for the church as a whole and individual Christians. Despite this challenge, we, as Christians, must remember that we have to continue to preach the truth in love and not be afraid to stand up for what is right, even if that means being sued or put in jail. We must also do it in such a way that we do not use extreme measures and language that many are doing. The Bible calls homosexuality a sin and that is what we have to call it, no matter what homosexuals say and do against us, even in public in a private conversation in a study group or between individuals.
