The GE Cool Touch Deep Fryer - Is it the Right Deep Fryer for You?

Cee Belair
For Christmas a few years back, I received a "GE Cool Touch Deep Fryer" in my husband's efforts to get me to cook. Unknowing how to use a deep fryer, it sat in my kitchen cupboard for over two years before pulling it out. Now that I've used it, I can let you know how the GE Cool Touch Deep Fryer works! Was it worth the wait? Or should it continue to sit in the cupboard? Find out my thoughts on the GE Cool Touch Deep Fryer!

I'll admit that I was intimidated by the thought of using a deep fryer. Questioning how much oil to use for a very large reservoir was constantly running across my mind. The GE Cool Touch Deep Fryer has an incredibly large oil reservoir, compared to other brands, but it was necessary for my large, always-hungry family.

After a visit from my sister who prompted me to pull it out, dust it off and fill it up, we found bulk oil at a local grocery store. It was actually cheaper to purchase it that way, calming my fears of the deep fryer.

Filling it up, and not being one to read the owner's manual, the icons on the front of the GE Cool Touch Deep Fryer were easy to figure out the settings. Since they are done with pictures, there was no reading required. The pictures showed me which settings I should do my chicken, fish, onion rings and French-fries, as well as others. There was no need to adjust the temperature, just slide the arrow to whatever food you'd like to cook.

Adjusting the time on my deep fryer was a different story; I did pull out the owner's manual for that. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to set the time on the GE Cool Touch Deep Fryer, but once figured out it's not so bad. Instructions on that could've been a little easier though.

Overall, I'm incredibly satisfied with my GE Cool Touch Deep Fryer, however the one, unexplainable thing to me is the power cord. When using your deep fryer, moisture does drip out the back. I am not sure why GE decided to put the power cord directly under the dripping condensation. To me, it would seem to be a hazard. The power cord does not fit very well either, as it seems to be held on by a magnetic force. If you move your GE Cool Touch Deep Fryer too far from the electrical source, the power cord pops right off.

If you're looking for a great deep fryer for your family, with a large capacity to cook food, definitely consider the GE Cool Touch Deep Fryer!
