This rune represents freedom, liberation, change, and re-invention. When drawing Hagalaz, you are advised to break free from whatever material or worldly things that may be weighing down your true consciousness. Hagalaz represents things that are beyond our control, the unsalable and unchangeable. A relationship might be failing, a financial opportunity might have passed, or your plans might be destroyed. Though you cannot draw Hagalaz in reverse, it advises you to take caution.
Nauthiz: The Rune of Constraint
Nauthiz attempts to teach the lesson of pain and withstanding, and reminds us that dealing with extreme constraint is part of life, and will ultimately make you stronger. Nauthiz represents our dark sides, the shadows in the world around us. Nauthiz advises to work with the shadows and balance everything accordingly, rather than fighting a possibly unwinnable battle against the ever darkening world. When reversed, Nauthiz points to approaching pain. Be careful.
Isa: The Rune of Ice
Isa represents the frozen, everything at a standstill and that which does not move or change. Though you may feel powerless, Isa reminds you to be withstanding, and wade in the river until the rapids approach. It is not likely for anything positive to come of your efforts when drawing Isa, but it is also not likely for anything negative to happen. Usually, Isa will remind you that change does not come without sacrifice. Because it is a straight line, Isa cannot be drawn in reverse.
Jera: The Rune of the Harvest
Jera applies to any activity, hobby, career, or relationship to which you are whole heartedly committed. Do not expect fast results, because Jera also symbolizes a complete cycle, and that you may have to wait for your opportunity to present itself again. Take care in every effort you put forth, and if you begin to fail, learn from it and progress instead of sitting idly by. Because of it's symmetry, Jera cannot be drawn in reverse.
Eihwaz: The Rune of Perseverance
Eihwaz points to a seemingly indestructible obstacle in your destined path. It reminds you to consider all possibilities of a situation, even that being prevented and delayed could prove useful to you in the long run. When drawn, it advises you to be perseverant, while still adequately defending yourself from an oncoming onslaught of emotion, stress, or trouble. Because of it's symmetry, Eihwaz cannot be drawn in reverse.
Perth: The Rune of Secrets
Perth often represents the unknowable and has many mythical animal associates, such as the gryphon and the phoenix. Perth always symbolizes a secret matter, something that is hidden, or something that is possibly completely unattainable. It signifies a surprise approaching, it could be good or bad. When reversed, it advises you not to expect too much from your efforts. Reversed Perth reminds you that all things must come to an end, and you cannot repeat what doesn't work without suffering.
Algiz: The Rune of Protection
Algiz serves as a "spiritual mirror", letting you view inside yourself to find the best course of action that may have been there all along. When you draw Algiz, keep in mind that action can be for naught if not timed properly and executed in the proper manner. When reversed, Algiz reminds you not to burden others, and to be aware of changes in physical health.
Sowelu: The Rune of Completion
Sowelu symbolizes wholeness, and points toward self-realization and progression. When you are striving to become something bigger than what you are, Sowelu reminds you that you need to proceed in all things with caution and limited pride. This rune advises that hard work, determination, and balance will lead you to what you ultimately deserve and desire. You cannot draw Sowelu in reverse because of it's shape.
