Greenville, Ohio, is a small town with a big history. Annie Oakley was born near the area, and the town now has the largest collection of Annie Oakley memorabilia and artifacts in the world. Oddly enough though, she isn't one of the ghosts that haunt the area.

McMecham Road is one of the most famous and popular areas rumored to be haunted in Greenville. According to stories there is a large burial ground located close to the road, though no one mentions if this is a Native American burial spot or something more recent.

Once new houses were built along the road, people began noticing strange things. Some of those who have lived in the houses claimed to see strange shadows, see things move, and hear people talking. Others claim that they have seen black shadowy figures walking along the road. Those who have ventured onto the burial ground claim to see the same type figures coming at them. Oddly enough, no one has ever said where this burial ground actually is.

Memorial Hall in Greenville is also rumored to be haunted. This building is used for community theater events in the area. Supposedly a former janitor died in the building when he fell off a ladder while trying to change a light bulb. He now wreaks havoc on those inside, and lets them know when he disproves of a production.

Bear's Mill in Greenville is also rumored to be haunted. Locals claim that the ghost of a former owner still walks around the mill. People have heard him walking upstairs, and heard the floorboards creaking as he walked.

A private home on Water Street in town is also haunted by a former resident. People claim to see a woman in old-fashioned clothing inside the home, and claim to have heard her talking or whispering. Stories are also told of the West Water Street Boulder in Greenville. This is one of the most interesting stories told about the area, and also one of the most disturbing.

Before Greenville became a town, it was Fort Greenville with hundreds of men stationed there. At the same time the area outside the Fort was heavily populated with Native Americans. According to the legend, one of the soldiers stationed there attacked a young Native American girl, raping her repeatedly. Though she tried to move on with her life, she could never forget the pain she experienced. One night the poor girl killed herself, and her tribe buried the body beneath the massive boulder. Now her spirit is doomed to walk the area.

All of the ghost stories told about Greenville are interesting in their own way, but the last one may be the most interesting and definitely the most disturbing.
